What is mutton chops or Mutton chanp?

Chanp” is basically derived from the Urdu or Hindi word for chop word and also chops word  so. Mutton chops meat basically is A chunk of meat that contains a portion of a rib that is cut from a larger piece of meat is called chanp or chop. Also any other part of the goat and sheep that contains a bone in meat chop for example neck, legs shoulders, and ribs.

Mutton chaap is the famous appetizer in Pakistan and India. In Pakistan chop mutton is specially cooked on the occasion of Eid. ul.Adha. This is a very delicious and perfect recipe for meat lovers. There are many recipes for cooking Mutton chops, slow cooker mutton chops, baked mutton chops, mutton chops bread, fry mutton chops, mutton chops in slow cooker recipe , Indian mutton chops recipes etc. I’ve discovered a way to make slow co-chops that are both juicy and tender. First, I cook them to make them soft and juicy in a slow pressure cooker, and then I fry them in a pan to make them crispy. Serve them with a cool and creamy mint sauce for dipping.

Ingredients you need:

We divide the ingredients into two sections.

Pressure cooking ingredients:

  • 500-gram Mutton chops it’s about 7-8 chops 
  • 2 Onions that are  roughly chopped 
  • 1 large tomato, roughly chopped 
  • 3 tbps ginger & garlic paste 
  • Two Bay leaves
  • 2 Green cardamom 
  • 1/4 Yogurt 
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder 
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • Salt as you like 
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup oil

Ingredients for coating and frying:

  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1-2 tbps lemon juice
  • 1 tbps tandoori masala
  • 1/4 cup oil for frying

How to make mutton chops recipe?

  • Put the pressure cooker on medium flame. Add 2/3 tbps of oil then add chopped onions and sauté till translucent.
  • Add ginger & garlic paste and sauté well. Add tomato puree and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Add all Spices at the same quantity as above mentioned. Stir and cook well for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add mutton chops and yogurt, mix well, and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Place the lid of the pressure cooker and leave them for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes turn out the lid and check the chops, they are 90% cooked.
  • Again cook well until the oil of the chops is separating and the curry is completely dry.
  • Now remove them from heat and spread them onto the plate to cool.

Coating and frying:

  • Take a bowl and put gram flour, tandoori masala, lemon juice, and half a cup water together it and mix them well.
  • Dip all chops one by one into the mixture and make sure both sides of the chop are completely coated with the mixture.
  • Take a non-stick pan and heat the oil in it. place mutton chops in heated oil.
  • Fry each side of mutton chops for 3-4 minutes until it looks golden brown and crispy.
  • Now take a white plate or dish and place all the chops, garnishing them with salad. Onion and lemon piece.

Serve it with mint yogurt and other dipping sauce.

Tips:

If you are cooking in the pressure cooker, it will take about 10-15 minutes. It depends on the quality and quantity of the meat chaps. While coating and frying it can take about an hour to make it crispy on medium heat.
